リア充 (riajū)

   Someone whose offline life is going well — partner, friends, plans at the weekend. Said with envy by people who consider themselves the opposite.

  Note: A fixed and entirely jocular formula, especially around Christmas, which in Japan is a couples' occasion.

Where it comes from

リアル ('real', meaning offline) plus 充実 ('fulfilment'). Coined on the 2ch message boards around 2005, in explicit contrast to a life lived mainly online.
