What it means

1. 1.

   Bastard, son of a bitch. A top-tier insult: it attacks the addressee's mother by implication, which is what gives it its force.

2. 2.

   As an intensifier after a noun, marking extreme irritation: 'este trancón malparido', this bloody awful traffic jam.

Literally: Badly born — from mal + parir, 'to give birth'.

  Note: Intensifier use — aimed at the weather, not a person, but still not said in front of your grandmother.

Where it comes from

Transparently compositional: mal parido, 'badly delivered'. Unlike hijueputa it has not worn down into a filler, and it retains close to its full charge in every region.
