What it means
Idiot, fool. 'No sea güevón' — don't be an idiot — is the everyday form, addressed to friends more often than enemies.
A neutral 'mate' among young men, where it has worn down almost to filler. The Colombian version is milder than Chilean huevón but not nearly as bleached as Mexican güey.
As an adjective, of things: a hassle, a stupid business. 'Qué güevonada' is roughly 'what a load of rubbish'.

Where it comes from
From huevón, augmentative of huevo — 'egg', and by long-standing euphemism 'testicle'. The image is of a man too heavy to move. The written g- reflects the Colombian pronunciation of initial hue-, and the anatomical sense is still live enough that the word is not office-safe.
