A Peninsular Spanish slang term. Browse all Spanish slang.

What it means

  1. Like; sort of; as in. A discourse marker introducing an approximation or a quotation, almost exactly parallel to the English quotative 'like'.

And he goes, like, that he's not coming.

Where it comes from

Recent and generation-marked. Older speakers criticise it exactly the way English speakers criticise quotative 'like', and with as little effect.
